New date for water supply disruption in the Mount Rhodes area in Hout Bay

The City’s Water and Sanitation Department will be conducting zero pressure tests on the main water supply to the Mount Rhodes area bounded by Victoria and Leeukoppie roads in Hout Bay. This work will result in the disruption of water supply to this area on Thursday, 26 May 2022, from 20:00 until 04:00 on Friday, 27 May 2022. The previous tests conducted did not pass as there were other feeds into the identified water supply zone.

Zero-pressure testing is part of the installation process for pressure management technology. Tests are conducted to see if any unmapped inflows need to be taken into account before smart pressure-reducing valves are installed.

Residents are advised to store water in clean, sealed containers upfront for use during this period and to ensure that their taps are closed to avoid any water loss and/or damage when the supply is restored.

This work forms part of the City’s Water Demand Management Strategy. Managing water pressure more effectively reduces the possibility of pipe bursts and water wastage.

The City regrets any inconvenience caused.
