CAPE TOWN – Operation Lockdown’s National Intervention Team, strategically deployed in Mfuleni, spotted a vehicle whose occupants started behaving suspiciously upon sighting the police. The vehicle subsequently sped off, was pursued by the Team and stopped in Jokozela Street, Mfuleni. Upon searching the vehicle, the following items were confiscated:

1X R5 rifle

1X Rifle magazine

23X Rifle rounds of ammunition

Four suspects were arrested on charges of possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition. The suspects between the ages of 21 and 26 will appear in the Blue Downs Magistrate’s court soon.

The vigilance of the Team is commended as efforts to rid the streets of Cape Town of illegal firearms intensifies.
