News: Provincial Commissioner commends members on the ground for their concerted efforts to recover four cars stolen in a business robbery and arrest four suspects

PARKTOWN – The intelligent driven operation by Tshwane crime intelligence, Ekurhuleni intelligence, Ekurhuleni TRT and Silverton detectives led to the arrest of four suspects and recovery of four cars stolen during the business robbery in Silverton garage. The team was assembled by the Provincial Commissioner to investigate this business robbery after 11 cars were stolen from Silverton garage.

Police conducted the operation following the information of the suspects who were hiding in Tembisa. On the arrival four identified suspects were arrested in the addresses they were hiding. It came out that there are more suspects still on the run.

Gauteng Commissioner of the SAPS, Lieutenant General Elias Mawela, has commended the vigilance of the team on the ground, and urged the members to continue to clamp down even harder on the criminals.

This comes after at least four suspects appeared in Pretoria magistrate court yesterday, 12 February 2020 charged with business robbery that happened in Silverton last month. The suspects were remanded in custody until 19 February 2020 for formal bail application.

Meanwhile police arrested a 32-year-old man for impersonating a police officer on the 12 February 2020 at about 10.00. The officers who were on the N1 North in Midrand driving marked police vehicle were obstructed by a white Ford Ranger with blue lights on. Police suspected the vehicle and instructed them to stop. The driver was interviewed it was found that these are not the police officers and he was arrested, the vehicle was impounded.

The suspects will appear in Midrand Magistrate Court soon

A word of commendation also goes out to those communities members who always help the police in the fight against crimes by continuing to give information which leads to the arrests of the criminals.
