News: Six Suspects to appear in court for Possession of Unlicensed firearms, ammunition and Stolen Vehicle

WESTERN CAPE Police attached to Flying Squad yesterday, 21 August 2019, participated in efforts to ensure that perpetrators are brought to book. While crime prevention patrols in Khayelitsha when they observed a white VW Polo with three occupants who appeared nervous when they saw the police. Police stopped and searched them, upon searching them they found an unlicensed firearm with ammunitions and a set of number plates that belong to other Polo. All three suspects aged 25, 28 and 35 were arrested for possession of prohibited firearm and possession of presumed stolen property. The suspects are expected to appear at Khayelitsha Magistrate court once charged.

In an unrelated incident, Flying Squad members spotted two suspects driving a stolen vehicle in New Eisleeben, Nyanga. The police arrested both suspects aged 28 and 31.The vehicle was reportedly stolen in Harare yesterday. The suspects are expected to appear at Wynberg Magistrate’s Court for possession of stolen vehicle, once charged.

Meanwhile on 21 August 2019, Mitchell’s Plain members were conducting crime prevention duties when they stopped and searched a suspicious male in Othello Street, Eastridge. While searching the suspect, police found a Star 9mm firearm, with magazine and ammunition. Police arrested a 17-year-old male and he is facing a charge of possession of firearm unlicensed firearm and ammunition. He is e expected to soon appear in court.

Western Cape Acting Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Sindile Mfazi commended the members for their commitment to remove unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
