News: Suspects arrested in Paarl East and Mitchells Plain

WESTERN CAPE The efforts to remove the presence of drugs in our communities, has led to the arrest of four suspects in Paarl East.

Yesterday, 17 February 2020 at about 18:22, members attached to the Crime Prevention Unit in Paarl East were busy conducting crime prevention duties in the area when they spotted suspicious looking men and approached them. Upon searching them, the members discovered mandrax tablets and dagga. Furthermore, an undisclosed amount of cash was confiscated.

Four suspects, aged between 17 and 39, were arrested on charges related to the possession of drugs. They are expected to appear in Paarl Magistrate’s Court soon on mentioned charges.

In an unrelated matter, members attached to the Mitchells Plain Crime Prevention Unit were conducting crime prevention duties yesterday, 17 February 20020 at about 04:30 in Megan Street, Tafelsig, when they spotted a suspicious Golf GTI with five occupants. The driver of the vehicle attempted to drive off when he noticed the members approaching. Upon searching the vehicle, members noticed a black and grey firearm with several rounds of ammunition and arrested five suspects, four males and one female aged between 27 and 39.

The suspects are expected to appear in the Mitchells Plain Magistrate’s Court facing charges relating to the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
