News: Three suspects arrested on charges of armed robbery in Parow

Western Cape: This morning, 24 January 2019, SAPS members from Parow Crime Prevention Unit were conducting patrols in Parow Valley where they were stopped by the public and informed of a robbery in progress at a nearby shop.

The members called for backup and at approximately 11:00 they tactically approached the business premises at the corners of Prinsloo and Hofmeyer Streets.

Upon noticing the police three men, of whom one appeared to be armed, the suspects fled the scene and the members gave chase on foot, apprehending the three suspects nearby.

A 9mm pistol with a loaded magazine was found in the possession of one of the men. Items stolen from the store which was recovered included two cellular telephones, numerous packets of cigarettes and an undisclosed amount of cash.

The three men, aged between 20 and 30, were arrested on a charge of armed robbery and are to appear in Bellville Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 28 January 2019.
