News: Two more arrested for the killing of police officer in Orkney

PRETORIA – Members from the North West Directorate for Priority Crimes Investigation (Hawks) continued with investigations into the killing of Sergeant Poonyane and the wounding of Sergeant Tladi who were gunned down on in Orkney on Saturday night.

This DPCI team arrested two more suspects in Soweto last night. The suspects are 37 and a 29 years of age. The latter was found in possession of a 9mm pistol with the serial number was filed off. The said firearm is belived to have been one of the firearms robbed from the deceased police officer, Sgt Poonyane.

The arrest of these two suspects brings the total to four the number of suspects arrested in connection with this case.

Preliminary investigations also revealed that all the suspects involved are from one family (they are uncles and cousins to each other).
