DURBAN The South African Police Service members in the Province of KwaZulu-Natal have upped the ante in the fight against all crimes and criminal elements. The recent crime strategies implemented by the provincial police management have continued to yield positive results. Testimony to this was a successful operation conducted on Tuesday, 03 September 2019 by the Ilembe Crime Intelligence together with the Empangeni Public Order Policing Units at Dendethu area on the outskirts of Sundumbili.

Police officials had sourced information on a wanted suspect who was driving a stolen red double cab bakkie. The information was verified and once the members were satisfied that they were on the right track, the information was operationalised. At about 12:30, police cornered the suspect at Dendethu and when the vehicle was checked indeed it turned to have been hijacked in Durban Central policing precinct in March of 2019. The 31-year- old suspect was then arrested and charged for possession of property which is suspected to be stolen and will appear at the Nyoni Magistrate Court today.
