ZWELITSHA – Alcohol and drug abuse have been noted to play a key role in the rise of cases of gender based violence, rape and crime. This is one of the reasons that a focus on tracking drug dealers at Cofimvaba and Engcobo as well as enforcement of Disaster Management Act was undertaken last night by both teams doing night duties at Engcobo and Cofimvaba last night, 24 April 2021.

This ongoing operation which started on Thursday, 23 April 2021 left an indelible mark in the community of Nkondla and its surroundings in Ngcobo and Cofimvaba CBD and surrounding villages.

The operations embarked on tracking drug dealers and monitoring the Non Compliance of the Covid-19 Disaster Management Act.

The team paraded outside Dalasile SAPS, Engcobo and Cofimvaba generated the following success.

The following success were made:

-3x dagga zols were found during the visits to the liquor outlets,

-10x J534’s to the value of Eight thousand, Five Hundred Rands (R8500, 00) were issued,

-Vehicle Check Point (VPC) Movement between R61, Ngcobo and Mthatha Route was conducted,

-Stop and search and,

-Checking of vehicle licenses

At Cofimvaba, Police Visibility was enhanced through patrols and enforcement of Road Traffic Act Regulations and Disaster Management Act.

One male suspect was raided for dealing in drugs. The 33 years old man was arrested for dealing in dagga and tik.

An alcohol dealer was raided for opening beyond prescribed times. The business was closed and patrons were dispersed.

During the Off Duty Parade, Operational Commanders, Colonel Zanela Baninzi and Col Samora Phika thanked the members for their discipline, hard work and dedication.
