Municipalities benefit from shared services model

The Bokone Bophirima Provincial shared services model which is mainly targeted at municipalities, has yielded positive results. The intervention has resulted in an improvement in internal audit, risk management, functionality of audit committees, good governance and improved capital projects expenditure.

The shared services model was adopted by the provincial government last year to ensure co-ordinated and integrated support to municipalities to deliver quality services to the communities of Bokone Bophirima.

MEC for Local Government and Human Settlements, Galaletsang Gaolaolwe said the internal audit risk management and audit committee shared services at Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati district municipality was yielding positive results.

”We are grateful to realise the positive impact towards the improved audit outcome and we have stopped the process of outsourcing internal audit services in our municipalities, there is a progress on financial management by municipalities, improved functionality of the audit committees’, she said.

MEC Gaolaolwe indicated that municipalities such Mahikeng, Kgetlengrivier, Moses Kotane and Maquassi hills have also benefitted immensely from shared internal audit services.
