Northern Cape Police Arrest Suspect for Drugs Possession [press release]

Kimberley Police Arrested a 40-year-old man, a Lesotho National for possession of drugs. On Thursday, 02 April 2015 at approximately 09:30 the Kimberley police crime prevention team were conducting patrol duties when they observed a suspicious vehicle in Barkly Road in Galeshewe. The members flagged the driver of the vehicle to stop. However, the driver refused to stop and sped off at high speed. A chase ensued between him and the police. He was swiftly intercepted by the police members on Mooketsi Street, Galesheswe.

Upon search and investigation a black bag containing 0.15 kg of dagga and mandrax tablets were found inside the vehicle. The street value of the dagga and mandrax found is estimated to be worth R4 440. The vehicle was also confiscated. The suspect will appear before the Kimberley Magistrate’s Court on count of possession of drugs and dagga, on Tuesday.
