O Kae Molao Operation: Seven stolen vehicles found on the premises of a panel beater in Chamdor, Krugersdorp

Parktown – During the latest integrated O Kae Molao operations conducted in the West Rand District today, police in partnership with vehicle tracking companies and Data Dot, recovered seven stolen vehicles, an engine and other vehicle parts at a panel beater in Chamdor.

An immediate on-site investigation confirmed that the vehicles were stolen including a C63 AMG Mercedes Benz stolen in March 2017 in Cape Town; a S65 AMG Mercedes Benz; a VW Polo both of which are yet to be linked to specific cases pending further investigation. A Toyota Hilux was stolen on Wednesday, 30 October 2019 and was tracked to this premises where police made this big recovery. Amongst the stolen vehicles was a GWM bakkie that was stolen in Pretoria and linked to house breaking incidents in Krugersdorp and Sunnyside.

Eight employees of the panel beater were taken in for verification of status in the country, while the owner was taken in for possession of stolen vehicles.

Meanwhile, a number of parallel operations were conducted across all Districts in the Province and a combined 746 wanted suspects were successfully traced and arrested, 13 of them wanted for rape and 08 for murder.

Gauteng Premier David Makhura, Mogale City Executive Mayor, Cllr Lipudi, and Member of Mayoral Committee of Public Safety, Cllr Resha joined the Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Elias Mawela in leading the operations in the West Rand where 97 undocumented foreign nationals were taken in for processing; 09 suspects arrested for possession of drugs; and 4 for illegal mining.

Police also confiscated live ammunition for different rifles and pistols, as well as explosives. Equipment believed to be used for illegal mining was also confiscated.

Counterfeit goods whose value is yet to be determined, were confiscated from a China Mall near the Ellis Park precinct in Johannesburg.

In Tshwane, police confiscated an illegal loaded pistol and a magazine; R7000 worth of illegal cigarettes and expired foods in Lyttelton; and also closed down 04 illegal liquor outlets; and issued AARTO fines to the value of R42150.

In Ekurhuleni, a suspect was arrested at a roadblock for driving under the influence of alcohol and for attempting to bribe a law enforcement officer. Fines worth R16 600 were issued while 05 fines were issued for contravention of the Second Goods Act.

These operations will continue with more intensity as the festive season looms.
