On duty police official nabbed for bribery in Atteridgeville

GAUTENG Constable Ketane Lucky Lentsoane (33) appeared before the Atteridgeville Magistrates Court on Wednesday, 15 January 2020 on charges of bribery.

It is alleged that Constable Lentsoane approached a certain investigating officer on a theft case he is investigating. He allegedly offered the investigating officer a bribe money of R2000 to derive evidence and weakens the case against the accused so he could be let loose.

The matter was therefore referred to the Hawks’ Serious Corruption unit in Germiston for further investigation. An entrapment operation was immediately conducted on Wednesday, which resulted in Constable Lentsoane being apprehended. He was arrested and charged with bribery.

He was granted bail of R3000 by the Atteridgeville Magistrates Court and the case is postponed to 19 February 2020 for further investigation.
