One (1) suspects nabbed in Mpumalanga for killing the 83-year-old granny: Sterkspruit

The number of suspects involved in the gruesome Murder of the 83-year-old Grandmother has increased to Six (6) after Police detectives arrested one more suspect in Mpumalanga on the Human’s Rights Day 21 March 2020.

The arrest of the male suspect (32) follows after the five (5) was arrested in various parts of the Eastern Cape and beyond its borders in the Western Cape. The 83-year-old elderly was brutally killed by the suspects at her home at Majuba Village, Sterkspruit on 15 March 2020.

On Thursday the 19th March 2020, the Provincial Commissioner accompanied by the Women’s Caucus and the local government leaders in Sterkspruit, visited the home of the deceased elderly to comfort the family and to assure them of the SAPS commitment in finding all the suspects involved in the act of criminality. Lieutenant General Liziwe Ntshinga handed over groceries and other household items, as the house of the 83-year-old was burnt down into ashes with everything that was inside.

All the arrested suspects are facing charges ranging from arson, attempted murder, assault GBH and murder. Five of them appeared in court last week and their case was remanded to the 26 March 2020 for bail hearing. The 32-year-old is expected to appear at Sterkspruit Regional court on Monday the 23 March 2020 on the stated charges. More arrests are expected soon as the investigation continues.
