Over sixty suspects nabbed during intelligence led joint operations

POLOKWANE – The simultaneous joint operations conducted in a number of Clusters in Limpopo have nabbed 67 suspects aged between 21 and 50 for various offences mainly, trio crimes.

When the operations were unfolding, eight (08) suspects aged between 21 aged 50, were arrested for various crimes ranging from rape, house robbery, business burglary to possession of Chrome minerals. The Police managed to recover items such as Laptops, Tablets, Cellphone, knives and pangas, microwave, clothes, Chrome, etc.

In the Lephalale Cluster, members of the Crime Intelligence Unit, jointly with the Witpoort Detectives have conducted the joint operation around the Cluster, tracing suspects involved in business burglary committed at various schools earlier this month. Three suspects aged between 22, 23 and 32 were nabbed at different locations. During the arrest, police recovered three (03) Laptops and nine (09) Tablets.

In the Seshego Cluster, the intelligence Led Joint Operation moved around the clock tracing suspects involved in the alleged rape and house robbery incident that took place in the Cluster on 9 September 2019. This after unknown suspects armed with knives and pangas, attacked a couple at their house in the early hours. The four suspects in the process, gang raped the 24-year-old female victim and robbed the couple of their belongings before they fled the scene on foot. All four suspects aged between 21and 32 were arrested. The Police managed to recover the following items: One (01) cellphone, One (01) Microwave, One(01) DVD player, One (01) Speaker, One (01) Subwoofer, Adidas tracksuit, Black and white pair of Nike tekkies, One (01) pair of Adidas push-in, One (01) belt, One (01) Panga and One (01) Butcher knife

Meanwhile members of the Provincial Organised Crime Unit arrested a 50-year-old suspect in the Malipisdrift Policing area after he was found in possession of a load of stolen Chrome in the truck. These members acted swiftly on a tip-off which led them to the suspect around the R37 road. The suspect was found still carrying the Chrome when he was nabbed. The truck and a load of chrome were confiscated.

In the City of Polokwane, the joint crime prevention operation “Wafa Wafa” resulted in the arrest of 45 drivers who were stopped for driving under the influence of liquor. During this operation, over six people were arrested for being in possession of the counterfeit goods and a large amount of counterfeit goods including lotions and cigarettes with the estimated value of about R800, 000-00, were confiscated.

The suspects will appear before the Seshego, Lebowakgomo, Polokwane and Lephalale magistrate courts soon, for various offences.
