Parliamentary office set to open in Malamulele

Communications Minister Faith Muthambi will officially open the Parliamentary Constituency Office in Malamulele – a move that will give local residents a chance to actively participate in parliamentary activities.

Minister Muthambi, who is in Limpopo as part of the Back to School campaign, will be joined by traditional leaders when she opens the office today.

“We are bringing Parliament closer to the people to ensure effective and direct accountability to local residents by myself as a Member of Parliament and other office bearers.

“The Parliamentary Office will serve all the people, irrespective of their political affiliation. The office will serve as a hub that will provide information on government programmes. The centre will be a crucial point of contact between government and the community of Malamulele,” she said.

The Minister said this will empower residents as they will gain easy access to government and will be in a position to follow progress on key initiatives. They will also be able to raise issues related to community development.

Traditional leader Hosi Busa Nxumalo said they will use the office to make suggestions about what should be included in President Jacob Zuma’s State of the Nation Address scheduled for next month.
