PE K9 Arrest suspects

EASTERN CAPE – It is alleged that on Wednesday, 12 June 2019 around 11:15, PE K9 members were patrolling when they received information of a vehicle being stripped in the bushes next to Van Duuren Road, in Gelvandale.

On arrival, Sgt Adriaan Oosthuizen and his dog, Max entered the bush. The suspects were spotted and back up was summoned. PE Flying Squad members were the first to respond. When the suspects noticed the police they started running away. Sgt Oosthuizen warned the suspects to stop or he will release Max. When the suspects saw Max they immediately surrendered and were arrested.

The vehicle, a Honda Ballade was reported stolen in Bethelsdorp in June 2019. The vehicle was completely burnt out and stripped. Five suspects aged between 15 and 29, were detained on charges of possession of suspected stolen property and will appear in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate’s court during the week.
