Philippi East police have launched a manhunt for suspects after an off duty member attached to the City of Cape Town’s Metro Police, was shot and fatally wounded earlier today, Wednesday 2021-04-28 in Marikana.
According to reports SAPS members responded to a complaint and proceeded to Disa Road in Marikana at about 13:40. Upon arrival the members found the body of a 49-year-old male with gunshot wounds next to his vehicle.
The victim, later identified as a City of Cape Town Metro Police member who was based at the Metro Police Radio Control at N1 City in Goodwood was declared dead on the scene by paramedics.
The unknown suspects allegedly fled the scene in a vehicle that belonged to the deceased. The motive for the attack is possibly robbery. The suspects are yet to be arrested and Philippi East detectives are investigating a case of murder.
