Plessislaer deployments continue to yield results

DURBAN – On Sunday morning, 11 April 2021, police officers deployed under the Plessislaer policing precinct were busy conducting stop and searches in the KwaPata and surrounding areas when they stopped a vehicle that was driven by a man.

A search was conducted and the suspect was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm. A toy gun was also found in his possession. The 45-year-old suspect was placed under arrest for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

The team proceeded to Machibisa area to follow up information regarding dagga that was kept in a house. A search was conducted in the house and police discovered 14 bags of dagga as well as 742 packets also containing dagga. A 53-year-old suspect was placed under arrest for possession of dagga. The estimated street value of the recovered dagga is R300 000-00. Both suspects appeared before the Pietermaritzburg Magistrates Court yesterday.
