Point drug dealers in custody

DURBAN – Two men aged 30 and 35 are in police custody after they were arrested by police officers from the Provincial Drug and Firearm Unit on 4 September 2020. These men are facing charges of possession and dealing of drugs.
The operation was conducted at the Point policing area where these men were arrested at residential premises in Gillepsie Street in Point. Police recovered Methcathinone, crystal meth, rock cocaine, cocaine powder and mandrax tablets with an estimated street value of more than R200 000. The drugs were found concealed in the bedroom and intelligence was received that they were about to be distributed to runners for trading. The suspects are also facing a charge for contravening the Immigration Act. They will appear in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 7 September 2020.
The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Khombinkosi Jula applauded the police officers for the arrests and assures the community that similar operations are continuing in the province to root out the drug trade.
