PARKTOWN – The multidisciplinary crime prevention operation Okae Molao continues and more than five hundred suspects were arrested over the weekend in Roodepoort, Johannesburg and Tshwane.
Roodepoort detectives arrested thirty two (32) wanted suspects for serious and violent crimes such as murder, hijacking, robbery and assault during operations on Friday, 26 July 2019. Forty two (42) illegal miners were also arrested and various equipment used for illegal mining activities were confiscated.
More road blocks were conducted at Akasia, and 11 undocumented persons were arrested while three persons were arrested for driving under influence of alcohol and two were found to be transporting drugs to Bronkhorstpruit and one for possession of dagga.
Meanwhile the detectives in Tshwane District arrested seventy seven (77) wanted suspects for serious and violent crimes including rape, murder, robbery, hijackings and possession of unlicensed firearms.
In Johannesburg District, police conducted road blocks at the N12 and N14 during which one stolen vehicle and trailer were recovered on the N12 with five undocumented persons were arrested. On the N14, more than six hundred cars were searched.
Gauteng police management urged the community to be patient during the road blocks as it was it was for a good cause, clamping down criminals in our streets. The arrested suspects will be appearing in the various courts in Gauteng on Monday 29 July 2019.
