Police arrest a suspect for the murder of a woman in Vosloorus

PARKTOWN – Collaboration between the police and community members led to the arrest of a man suspected to be responsible for the murder of a 32-year-old woman in Vosloorus on the 11 January 2021. The suspect, aged 32, was arrested on Monday, 18 January 2021, at his place of residence in Vosloorus.
Police followed the intelligence driven information after the woman was reported missing on Saturday, 16 January 2021 by the mother.
It is reported that the woman left Alexandra on the 10 January 2021 to visit her boyfriend who is the father of her two-year-old child. After she did not come back home, the boyfriend indicated that she left to home but she did not arrive.
Police followed the information which led them to the car in Alberton. The person found in possession of the victim’s car led the police to the boyfriend who sold the car to him.
The boyfriend admitted that he killed her and dumped her in an open space in Heidelberg. It was discovered that a case of murder was opened after the body of a woman was found in an open field.
The suspect has been hiding since the discovery of the body.
The suspect is expected to appear at the Gershon Magistrates Court, facing a charge of murder
Police will continue to prioritise cases of crime committed against women and children and to ensure that perpetrators are hunted down and arrested.
