Police arrest Kunene Park murder suspect: Kabega Park

Kabega Park police arrested a 30-year-old suspect allegedly involved in the murder a 66-year-old Kunene Park man who was found dead in his house on 10 January 2020.

It is alleged at about 14:45, a friend left after visiting Mark John Mullen at his house in Arlington Street. Mullen’s wife arrived home at about 16:40 and found him lying on the floor. He sustained multiple stab wounds. Entrance into the house was gained through the lounge window. Mullen was wheelchair bound due to the loss of a leg.

During investigation, information was received that on the day of the murder, a man was seen in the Kuyga area with bloodied clothing and a cellphone which he was attempting to sell. Police were on the hunt for this man and on 7 February 2020, SAPS Kabega Park sector manager arrested the suspect in a shack in Kuyga.

The suspect from Motherwell is charged for the murder and robbery and will appear in the Port Elizabeth magistrates’ court on Monday, 10 February 2020.
