DURBAN The swift response by the Ethekwini Inner South Cluster Task Team resulted in the arrest of an 18-year-old suspect within hours after a video of the suspect posing with a firearm going viral.
The suspect was arrested on 29 December 2019 at Wentworth and was found in possession of an illegal 9mm pistol with ammunition. Preliminary investigations revealed that the firearm was stolen in the Phoenix during March 2019. He was also charged for pointing of a firearm. He appeared at the Wentworth Magistrates’ Court.
The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Khombinkosi Jula praised the team for the speedy arrest of the suspect and the recovery of the firearm.
