Acting National Police Commissioner Khomotso Phahlane sustained minor injuries after he was caught up in a crossfire in a suspected business robbery in Johannesburg, on Sunday.
Phahlane was with his wife at a beauty spa in Dunkeld, when two men stormed in with guns.
Hawks spokesperson Hangwani Mlaudzi said a scuffle ensued between Phahlane and the two suspects.
The men fled after firing at least one shot. No items were taken from the premises.
“We suspecting that it was a business robbery that had gone wrong. The general’s safety is our concern; hence we are now making sure that he is secured as soon as possible.”
No one has been arrested but police are continuing their investigations.
