Police condemn murder of woman by her husband

KING WILLIAM’S TOWN – Police are shocked and dismayed at a recent incident of gender-based violence following the fatal shooting of a 32-year-old woman by her 39-year-old husband at Dimbaza outside King William’s Town yesterday. It is alleged that the perpetrator met the victim on the street and an argument ensued. The woman was shot and succumbed to her injuries on the way to the local clinic.
The suspect later handed himself over to the police and the firearm was recovered.
The suspect will appear before the Dimbaza Magistrate’s Court facing a charge of murder soon.
Eastern Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Liziwe Ntshinga condemned the actions resulting in the death of the victim.
“We need to find amicable ways to solve domestic problems without resorting to violence and murder. Its actions like these that reverse the progress made in fighting the scourge of gender-based violence.
