Police confiscate drugs worth R67 400.00

NORTHERN CAPE – In their endeavour to turn the tide against crime, the police confiscated drugs worth R67 440.00 and arrested a 47-year-old woman in Victoria West.

The arrest was made on 21 January 2020 when De Aar Public Order Police and Victoria West VISPOL members followed up on information received about alleged drug peddling. They confiscated 473 small packets of dagga; 52 grams of Tik estimated to street value of R2 600.00 and 500 mandrax tablets with an estimated street value of R50 000.00 and an undisclosed amount of cash. The total value of confiscated drugs is estimated R67 400.00.

The suspect is expected to before Victoria West Magistrates’ Court soon on a charge of dealing in drugs.

The Cluster Commander of Pixley Ka Seme, Brigadier Nomana Adonis has applauded the members for their swift action and thanked the public for working together with the police in ensuring the safety of our communities. Drugs and substance abuse contribute to various crimes committed, including serious and violent crimes.
