Police continue to ensure Lockdown regulations: Nelson Mandela Bay Metro

PORT ELIZABETH – The South African Police Service in the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro assisted by the Metro Police, Provincial Traffic, SANDF and the NMB traffic are relentless in their continuing efforts to ensure that the lockdown regulations as stipulated in the Disaster Management Act is strictly adhered to.

Various roadblocks are held throughout the metro on a daily basis and motorists are courteously interrogated as to their movements. Residents were urged to shop for essential items in their respective areas thus restricting movement. Police will continue with their operational responsibilities and has warned the communities that they will not hesitate to arrest anyone who is in contravention of the Act.

Foot patrols are done daily throughout the metro in our endeavours to ensure that there are no pedestrians on the streets.

Visiting friends and family during lockdown is not allowed and those found flouting these regulations are arrested
