Police embark on Safer Schools awareness campaign

POLOKWANE – The Acting Vhembe District Commissioner, Brigadier Eddie Van der Walt and the Vhembe District Executive Mayor, Cllr Dowelani Nenguda, jointly visited three schools in the Musina Local Municipality, being Mutele Primary School in Mutele village, Madimbo Primary School in Madimbo village and Mamphodo Secondary School in Gumela village.

They were accompanied by the Acting Mayor of Musina Local Municipality, Cllr. Thina Mbedzi, local Councillors, and the Traditional leader of Mutele village.

During the campaign, learners were encouraged to study hard and reach requirements to receive bursaries.

They were urged to steer away from peer pressure and substance abuse, stay away from any criminal activity but to keep their focus on the books. They were also advised to comply with the COVID-19 Disaster Management Act Regulations.

The Delegates donated masks, sanitary towels and sunglasses to the learners and learners from the disadvantaged families were as well handed with pairs of school shoes.
