Police intensify on-air awareness campaigns to fight gender-based violence

POLOKWANE – The SAPS Corporate Communication and Liaison Services from the Provincial Office, Clusters and Police Stations have embarked on a an on-air awareness campaigns focusing on the prevention of gender-based violence.
The interviews were conducted on local and national radio stations as follows:
• On Wednesday, 17 June 2020, the SAPS Provincial Head of Corporate Communication and Liaison Services, Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo, accompanied by the Communication Officers from the Groblersdal Cluster, conducted an on-air awareness campaign at Moutse Community Radio Station (MCRS) during their program, “Madireng a Sechaba”, focusing on the fight against the scourge of gender-based violence across the Province.
• On Thursday, 18 June 2020, the Provincial Commander of Media Centre, Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe accompanied by the SAPS Giyani Communication Officer, Constable Ridgewell Rikhotso, conducted a similar campaign at Giyani Community radio station(GCR), addressing the same topic.
• In Mankweng, Captain Mohlaka Mashiane conducted a live interview with Radio Turf on Friday, 19 June 2020 where he also addressed gender-based violence. On 09 June 2020 and 15 June 2020, from 21:50, Sergeant Tshifhiwa Radzilani conducted a live interview with SABC Phalaphala FM focusing on the prevention of gender-based violence and domestic violence.
• On 12, 15 and 19 June 2020, from 05:50, Lieutenant Colonel Mamphaswa Seabi conducted a live interview with SABC Thobela FM focusing on the prevention of gender-based violence and domestic violence.
• On Friday, 19 June 2020, Lieutenant Colonel Mamphaswa Seabi and Warrant Officer Marobo Seabela from the Provincial Media Centre, conducted on-air awareness campaigns on Mogodi FM and Zebediela FM focusing on gender-based violence. The campaigns are still unfolding.
