Potchefstroom: Police in Mmabatho are investigating a case of murder and rape after the lifeless body of a 22-year-old woman was discovered in the afternoon on Sunday, 19 August 2018 at Unit 9 Sport grounds, Mmabatho.

According to information available at this stage, reports suggest that the body was discovered by the soccer players who alerted the police. It is alleged that the victim left her home on Saturday, 18 August 2018 after informing her family members that she was visiting her boyfriend.

The police who went to the scene after being alerted about the incident, found the body that was certified dead at the scene. Investigation into the matter is underway and the police are still questioning a 26-year-old man believed to be the girl’s boyfriend who was last seen with the victim at one of the local taverns.
