Police launch search operation for missing elderly man

POLOKWANE – The Police in Masemola outside Lebowakgomo launched a search operation for a missing elderly man, Alfred Tlouyakgatla Mathabatha aged 74, from Wonderboom village who was last seen on the 08 July 2019.

According to information, he allegedly left home with his friend on this day at about 17: 00, apparently going to an initiation school at Tsiane Village in Ga-Mphahlele. His friend allegedly walked him half-way back until he crossed the nearby river before returning back to the school. That was the last time he was seen by anyone.

Following this report, the police commenced with the investigations. A search operation with the assistance from the SAPS Search and Rescue Team was also conducted covering the local rivers, mountains and surrounding areas without success. The police also searched at friends and relatives.

At the time of his disappearance he was wearing khaki trousers, red work suits top and black shoes.

The Police are appealing to anyone with information that can assist to locate this elderly man, to urgently contact the Investigating officer Sergeant Kgaogelo Mmurwa at 073 479 4251, the Crime Stop number on 0860010111 or the nearest police station.
