Police recover hijacked vehicle and electric equipment

GQEBERHA – The speedy response to information followed by the Nelson Mandela Bay District Crime Combatting Unit (CCU) led to the successful recovery of a hijacked Mahindra vehicle, trailer and lawnmowers within two hours after it was stolen in Kwanobuhle yesterday, Tuesday, 20 September 2022.

It is alleged that on the mentioned date at about 14:20, the driver of the Mahindra and trailer with lawnmower equipment was at a residence in Ndlovu Street, Kwanobuhle busy with grass cutting when two unknown males approached him. He was seated in the vehicle, talking on his cellphone when he was pointed with a firearm and the suspects demanded the keys of the vehicle and his cellphone. The suspects then drove off with the vehicle and the equipment that was still on the trailer. Soon after the hijacking, the Nelson Mandela Bay District CCU members followed up on information about the possible whereabouts of the vehicle. At about 15:30, the vehicle, the lawnmowers, a fuel pump and other electric equipment were found abandoned in Kotane Street. The total value is estimated to be worth more than R300 000-00.

No arrest have been made as yet, however investigations are continuing.
