Police seek rape suspect

GQEBERHA – The Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit in Gqeberha is seeking the community’s assistance in tracing a rape suspect.

It is alleged that on Saturday, 27 March 2021 at about 22:00, the 11-year-old victim was walking in G-West in Walmer location when the suspect confronted her. He took the victim to the graveyard where he allegedly raped her. He took the victim’s hoodie and left his jersey behind.

The suspect is a black male, slim, tall and is in his late 20’s. He has short hair on the sides of his head and dreads in the middle. He is light in complexion and has a scar on the side of his head. The suspect left with the victim’s navy blue hoodie and his blue jeans.

A case of rape is under investigation and anyone who can assist police in tracing the suspect or may recognise him from the facial identikit compiled by the Facial Identification Unit is asked to contact D/Const Babalwa Ramba on 071 475 1737 or Crime Stop 08600 10111 or their nearest police station. All information is strictly confidential and callers have the right to remain anonymous.
