Welkom: On Friday, 26 March 2021 at about 18:30, crime intelligence led information was followed by Welkom Tactical Response Team about unknown males who are planning a house robbery in Chopping Street, Welkom.

A suspicious white minibus was seen dropping off two males in that street and the members approached them. The men fled in different directions and the minibus sped off. One suspect was caught and an unlicensed firearm with serial numbers filled off was found in his possession.

The 30-year-old suspect was arrested and will appear in Welkom Magistrates’ Court soon on the charge of possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
