On Monday, the 20th February 2017 the Speaker of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature (GPL), Honourable Ntombi Mekgwe will preside over the Official Opening of the Fourth Session of the Fifth Legislature, where in terms of Rule 14 of the Standing Orders, the Honourable Premier David Makhura will deliver the State of the Province Address at the Green Hills Stadium in Randfontein.

The Premier’s address will highlight the Gauteng Government’s programme of action and service delivery priorities for the year 2017 and beyond.

The 2017 opening of the legislature will take place as follows:

Date: 20 February 2017

Time: 9h00 (lifestyle programme) and 11h00 (SOPA Sitting)

Venue: Greenhills Stadium (Randfontein)

The event will commence with a Morning Programme at 09h00 which includes red carpet interviews; arts entertainment; police parade; and the guard of honour among others. The House Sitting will commence at 11h00.

All members of the media will be required to get accredited for the day’s proceedings. Members of the media that have still not applied for accreditation are advised to complete the screening template with their full details including: name and surname; ID number; and name of media company by the 10th February 2017.

Please note the following:

Accreditation will be collected at the GPL Precinct; Cnr. City Hall & President Streets, Johannesburg CBD) – from the 16th until 18th February 2017. ID books and press cards will be required on collection of accreditation.

There will be no accreditation on the day of the event.
