Premier Makhura to present his fourth State of the Province Address

Premier David Makhura will deliver his fourth State of the Province Address on Monday 20 February 2017 at Greenhills stadium, Randfontein.

The Premier is expected to give direction on service delivery priorities such as economy, job creation, housing, education, health and infrastructure for the 2017 financial year and beyond, while highlighting the achievements of the current administration.

The address is also set to report on the progress of the Gauteng Provincial Government’s (GPG) Transformation, Modernisation and Re-industrialisation (TMR) agenda and the impact of the ten pillar programme, on the development of the Gauteng City Region.

Since the current administration took office, the provincial government has accelerated service delivery through the Ntirhisano Outreach Programme.

Through the programme, the provincial government is able to engage with people on the ground and provide immediate feedback for service delivery concerns and inadequacies. The provincial government has also managed to reduce the payment of service providers from 30 to 15 days.

The fifth administration, as a result, introduced the Open Tender System which looks into ending corruption on government tenders.

Currently 72 projects worth R10 billion have been awarded using the Open Tender System.During the 2015/16 financial year, the GPG saved R385 million in fruitless and wasteful expenditure.
