President pays tribute to Shadrack Ngema

Pretoria: President Jacob Zuma has expressed his deepest condolences to the family of veteran actor Shadrack Ngema.

According to media reports, Ngema died on Saturday from heart related complications at the Prince Mshiyeni Memorial Hospital.

Ngema was much loved for his skilful performance in the SABC 1 drama Emzini Wezinsizwa, where he played the part of a traditional healer Magubane.

“South Africa has lost a familiar voice and face in the arts industry. He was a very talented and popular actor and comedian who brought laughter and joy to our people.

“He will be sorely missed. We wish to convey our deepest condolences to his family. May his soul rest in peace,” said President Zuma.

His colleague Roland Mqwebu, who starred as Mkhize in the drama, also passed away few weeks ago.
