Pretoria Central SAPS arrest a suspect for possession of unlisenced firearm and addresses the issue of drugs

GAUTENG – An operation led by Pretoria Central SAPS has proven to be a success after 31 suspects between the ages of 20 and 53 years were arrested for various criminal conducts.

During the execution of their duties, a number of successful arrests such as theft, assault common, assault GBH, drunk and driving and malicious damage to property were inflected. Various fines such as illegal gambling, public drinking issued and searches of illegal liquor outlets were also conducted.

A 22-year-old suspect was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and presumably stolen laptop at Bagdad Salvakop in the early hours of Saturday morning. The arrest comes after the police were doing stop and searches in that area.

Drug use remains one of the station’s major mandates to minimize trading and use of illegal substances. These has led to a number of 10 suspects being arrested for possession of drugs.

Brigadier Dladla was very pleased with the outcomes of the operation. He further urged the community to report crime and assures them that their safety will be the station’s priority. All complaints can be directed straight to the station or contact our Crime Stop number 08600 10111.

All the suspects appeared at the Pretoria Magistrate court on Monday 02 March 2020.
