Prieska SAPS arrest two for possession of drugs

KIMBERLEY – On 27 January 2021, members of Prieska Vispol A relief under the command of Warrant Officer Ntabeni received information about drugs that will be be transported from De Aar to Prieska in a silver Volkswagen Polo Cross.
Warrant Officer Ntabeni and Constables Nel and Bostander then conducted patrols in the Prieska area in search of the vehicle. They later spotted the vehicle in Alfa Street and stopped and searched the vehicle as well as the two male occupants.
One of the occupants, aged 22, was found in possession of Tik, found in a transparent plastic bag and upon further searching the vehicle the members found another plastic bag containing Tik. The total street value of the drugs amounted to R14 850-00. The police impounded the Silver Polo as it was used in the commission of a crime and also confiscated three cellphones.
Two males aged 22 and 21 respectively were arrested and charged for possession of drugs and will soon appear in the Prieska Magistrate’s Court.
The Prieska Station Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Rendani Ndou commended the members for their vigilance in tracking the vehicle and executing the arrests which resulted in drugs being removed from the streets.
