Project on Engaging Teachers in Peace Building to be launched on Tuesday (Daily Balochistan Express (Pakistan))

A research project titled “Engaging teachers in peacebuilding in conflictaffected contexts,” will be launched at the Aga Khan University’s (AKU) Institute for Educational Development here on Tuesday.
The study seeks to examine how teachers and teaching are supporting education for peacebuilding.In doing so, it will pay particular attention to how teachers seek to mitigate gender, ethnic, religious and socioeconomic inequities to, in and through education, said a press release.
This research is jointly supported by both an Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC)/Department for International Development (DFID) Poverty Alleviation Grant and through a Research Consortium with the University of Amsterdam and the University of Ulster, funded through UNICEF’s Peacebuilding, Education and Advocacy Programme.
The research will be conducted in partnership with UNICEF country offices and the government institutions in Pakistan, Rwanda, South Africa, Uganda and Myanmar.
Members of Centre for International Education (CIE) at Sussex are leading the project in Pakistan, South Africa and Rwanda, with partnerships with Aga Khan University, Bristol University, University of Rwanda and Cape Peninsula University of Technology.
Dr Anjum Halai, AKUIED, Dr Yusuf Sayed, University of Sussex, UK and Dr Naureen Durrani, University of Sussex, UK will be among the speakers on the occasion.
