Provincial Commissioner expresses condolences on the death of police reservist: Port Elizabeth

ZWELITSHA: The Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Liziwe Ntshinga has expressed her shock at the sudden passing of a dedicated police reservist in Port Elizabeth.

The South African Police Service was informed this morning, 18 March 2020 that Reservist Constable Abedinock Siyabonga Ntamo (40) passed away at the Provincial Hospital in Uitenhage. Reservist Constable Ntamo joined the reservist corps in 2005. He was transferred from SAPS Despatch in 2013 to PE Flying Squad until his sudden passing. Reservist Constable Ntamo won the National Excellence Awards – Reservist of the Year twice, in 2017/2018 and 2018/2019 respectively.

On 12 March 2020, he was admitted to hospital complaining of severe headaches and pneumonia. On 18 March 2020, he passed away in hospital. His departure has sent shockwaves throughout the corridors of the organization who dearly loved him.

The Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Ntshinga has extended her condolences to his family as well as his SAPS family. ‘This member has certainly left an indelible mark in the Reserve Police Service and Visible Policing environments as well as the SAPS as an organisation. The loss of his life not only leave pockets of emptiness in the hearts of his beloved ones but also to his extended family, the SAPS. The SAPS especially in the Eastern Cape was robbed of a dedicated and loyal reservist. We applaud him for his good deeds and courage. We will never forget his contribution to the police and the community,’ added Lieutenant General Ntshinga.
