NELSPRUIT – Mpumalanga Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mondli Zuma, has praised the police for arresting three suspects aged between 28 and 70, on charges of Stock Theft in the early hours of Tuesday morning, 12 May 2020, at Graskop.
The arrest came when police in Graskop were busy with their routine patrols when they spotted a heavily loaded White Toyota Corolla, and instructed the driver to stop. Upon stopping the vehicle, they (police) then searched it and found a large amount of meat stashed in the boot. Police enquired about the meat but the men failed to give a clear explanation. The men were then arrested for stock theft. Preliminary investigations have since revealed that the trio were allegedly involved in stock theft activities whereby they slaughtered a cow(s) at Dientjie area then stashed the meat in the car and were on their way to Bushbuckridge before they were intercepted by police.
The suspects, Isaac Khosa 70, Sibusiso Khosa 21 as well as 26 year old Gregory Khosa appeared at the Graskop Magistrate’s Court yesterday, 13 May 2020, on charges of stock theft and were granted R1500 bail each. They are expected to appear again at the same court on 21 May 2020.
The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Mondli Zuma, has welcomed the arrest of the three suspects and thanked members for their vigilance in the fight against crime even during this challenging time that the country is facing. These men and women in blue showed commitment to their work and are the kind of police members that must be commended as they do not take things for granted but verify and thoroughly check information.
