Provincial Commissioner warns members not to take law into their own hands

NELSPRUIT The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Mondli Zuma, hereby warns members of the community not to take law into their own hands.

The warning by General Zuma came after members of the community at Anthol Trust, near Hazyview, set alight two huts belonging to two men who are suspected of having allegedly severed a 13-year-old boy’s leg with a panga. It is alleged that police received information of a child whose leg had been severed by two men. They immediately rushed to the scene and found the boy’s severed leg. The community members then proceeded to the place where the alleged suspects resides and set alight two huts.

No one has been arrested as yet, police are investigating a case of arson as well as an attempted murder case. Anyone with information is urged to contact Captain France Mhlongo on 072 624 5133 or the SAPS Crime Stop number 08600 10111.
