Provincial reaction team arrested two suspects and confiscated a firearm, dagga and ammunition in Mitchells Plain

WESTERN CAPE To prevent and combat crime that threatens the safety and security of communities, members of the Provincial Reaction Team attached to Mitchells Plain arrested a 22-year-old man for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition on Thursday 08-08-2019 at about 20:30 in Mitchells Plain.

The members conducted an intelligence driven operation after information was received of firearms at a premises in Du Toitkloof Street, Tafelsig Mitchells Plain. The members found a 22-year-old man in possession of a 9mm pistol with serial number filled off, one magazine and 13 rounds of ammunition.

In a separate operation, the same members conducted an intelligence driven operation at about 19:30 at a premises in Loftus Crescent, Beacon Valley, Mitchells Plain and arrested a 63-year-old male for possession of illegal ammunition and drugs. The members found 42 rounds of different calibres and one parcel of dagga at the premises.

Both suspects are due to appear in the Mitchells Plain Magistrates Court on Monday, 12-08-2019 on the mentioned charges.
