Provincial Tracker Awards ceremony held in Port Elizabeth

Port Elizabeth: The 11th Annual Provincial Tracker Awards ceremony was held in Port Elizabeth this morning at the Radisson Blu Hotel. The Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Liziwe Ntshinga and the Executive Operational Manager for Tracker, Mr Ron Knott-Craig were in attendance.

In his address, Mr Ron-Knott Craig thanked the police members for their dedication and hard work over the past year. ‘ Tracker considers it a huge privilege to work side by side with SAPS members and today we acknowledge and pay tribute to those members that have served their community and country with dedication and distinction. Not only do we acknowledge the police members but we also pay tribute to the beloved Madiba from whom we all have learnt so much.’ Mr Knott-Craig mentioned the five philosophies of Madiba � hope, perseverance, serving, creating change and inspiration and touched on each aspect.

The Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Ntshinga in her keynote address saluted all women from all walks of life including those present today.’ Today marks yet another year of the many milestones that the SAPS and Tracker partnership celebrate in style. This event takes place at a very crucial moment in history when we begin to celebrate Women’s Month. In concert with Tracker, the SAPS is here to pay tribute to the remarkable sons and daughters of our Province whose achievements and lifelong advances for excellence have brought honour to all of us,’ added Lieutenant General Ntshinga. In concluding, the Provincial Commissioner expressed her sincere gratitude to Tracker for the invitation and added that their partnership with the SAPS is appreciated and must be maintained.

The winning Unit for 2018 was awarded to Port Elizabeth Flying Squad and the Individual Winner was Warrant Officer MS Calvert from Port Elizabeth K9 Unit. Lifetime Achievement Awards were given to Warrant Officer S Blundin (PE Flying Squad), and Sergeant S Dicks (PE K9 Unit).

The winners will now go through to the National Awards in October 2018.
