Robbery suspect nabbed by police

DURBAN – Sterling investigation conducted by Bellair Detective Service led to the arrest of a 40-year-old Ntokozo Ntibane involved in robbery which occurred at local store in the Bellair policing area a month ago. The accused appeared before the Durban Magistrates’ Court on 29 March 2021. He was remanded in custody until 5 April 2021.

On Friday, 26 March 2021 at 15:00, the Bellair police conducted an intelligence driven operation around Bellair and surrounding areas which resulted in this brazen suspect being nabbed. The positively identified vehicle that was used in some of the robberies as well as used to transport services was confiscated for investigation. Bellair police have been receiving complaints from the members of the public about suspicious vehicle involved in robberies of pedestrians who are unwary of their surroundings

It is alleged that on 26 February 2020 at 15:30, three suspects enter the business premises pretending to be patrons and robbed employees of cash, airtime machine and cellphones before fleeing in their getaway vehicle. The suspect was arrested while driving in the Bellair area after police spotted the vehicle fitting the description. More arrests are expected.

The Acting Provincial Commissioner for KwaZulu-Natal, Major General Thulani Gonya expresses his appreciation to the Bellair police for their concerted efforts made in tracing and arresting these suspect. “The members are commended for their commitment and dedication in serving the Kwazulu-Natal community. The community is urged to always be wary of their surroundings and to come forward with any information that could lead to arrests like these which in turn will create a much safer and secure community,” he said.
