Robbery suspects swiftly arrested

DURBAN: Two men aged 20 and 24 are expected to appear in the Durban Magistrates’ Court today. Police swiftly arrested the men inside a house following a robbery on Goble Road in Morningside.
It is alleged that yesterday three suspects armed with a knife accosted an elderly couple at an apartment on Goble Road and demand cash whilst threatening them with the knife. They stole cash, jewellery, vehicle keys as well as house keys from the victims. Berea SAPS was alerted following the robbery and they responded quickly. A suspect was found inside the house and was placed under arrest. Two of the men jumped over the fence after exiting through the back window. Police officers gave chase and one suspect was arrested. The two suspects were detained for house robbery at the Berea police station. All the stolen property was recovered.
“The swift response by the police officers which led to the arrest of the suspects is highly commended. We will continue to urge people to always be alert to prevent criminal activities and remain safe at all times,” said the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Khombinkosi Jula.
