Rural safety operation conducted in Elliot Cluster

EASTERN CAPE – A successful rural safety operation was held in the Elliot Cluster on Tuesday, 14 May 2019 from 10:00 to 14:00

The Operation started at Indwe where the identified areas included Vukani Village and Wachbank. Members also proceeded to farms in the Dordrecht and Ida area. The crime prevention activities included foot, vehicle and horse patrols that are specifically suitable for the mountainous areas. The Operation was jointly conducted by Elliot Cluster Office Vispol, SAPS members from Indwe, Ida, Dordrecht, Rossouw as well as Elliot K9 and Barkly East Mounted Unit.

The focus of the operation was on Police visibility, Stop and Search activities and the distribution of pamphlets for public education on rural safety and stock theft.

The Cluster Commander, Colonel Matshediso Gezani commended the joint forces on conducting this successful operation. Stock theft is a crime of concern in the area and by joining our expertise we could make a bigger impact. It is also very important to share valuable information with our communities on the prevention of stock theft so we can fight this crime together. Keep up with the good work!
