SA, Czech Republic trade talks underway

South Africa and the Czech Republic are meeting this morning for political consultations that will focus on trade and investment, tourism, defence cooperation and science and technology.

The talks are being led by International Relations and Cooperation Deputy Minister Luwellyn Landers and his Czech counterpart Martin Tlapa in Tshwane.

It is expected that this year’s political consultations will further enhance bilateral and multilateral cooperation, whilst agreeing on means of increasing foreign direct investment into South Africa and improved South African value-added exports into the Czech Republic, the Department of International Relations and Cooperation said on Friday.

Full diplomatic relations between South Africa and the Czech Republic were established in July 1991, with the two countries enjoying cordial relations demonstrated by an extensive exchange of visits.
